Richard Meredith was born and educated in the UK. He first trained as an accountant, but soon found that writing and later publishing were more his style. After a year hitch-hiking round Europe he began a career in journalism which eventually led to the Daily Express in London. He left to start a weekly newspaper with friends and later began his own company producing business magazines. His life as a travel writer began in 2000.
Richard’s qualifications include the NCTJ's certificate in journalism and diplomas in business growth from Cranfield University and business excellence from Newcastle College.
He is a visiting university lecturer, a member of the Society of Authors, the Association of Teachers and Lecturers in Higher Education, and the National Union of Journalists.
Richard is divorced with a son and daughter and – when he is not travelling abroad – lives in an Edwardian, former farmworker’s cottage in Buckinghamshire with a pub at the end of the lane.
